Awesome Readers

Shoes off to some awesome readers!  Chloe and Kendall have been reading up a storm in their reading counts books.  For earning 10 points for their quizzes they got to have shoes off for the day and wear some awesome slippers around the room.  They were the envy of the class for the day!  Keep up the awesome reading girls!

Writing Journals

The students have really been enjoying our writing workshop.  They love having time each day to practice our writing skills in their journals and time to share what they wrote.  This week we had a day where we learned how to share with a buddy.  They were REALLY excited to share their writing with a friend in the room.  Here are a few photos.

Johnny Appleseed

This week we had the privilege of having a visit from Johnny Appleseed.  He shared the story of his life, a story about little bear, and a magic trick too.  The students really enjoyed hearing him talk about his adventures and apples!

Tooth Buddies

Last week was a busy week for the tooth fairy in our class.  We had two boys loose a tooth on the same day at school.  They both got a cool tooth carrying necklace to carry those teeth home to place under their pillows.

Find a Friend

We played a new game called find a friend this week.  On the first day we found a friend who liked certain items, like ice cream or reading.  This helped us get to know one another.  The game was a BIG hit with the kids.  They loved learning about all their new friends in our class.  On the next day we played find a friend who could read the color words.  Then the following day we played find a friend who could read the number words.  Here are a few photos to enjoy!

First Day Jitters

We had a great first week of school to kick off this new year.  The students and I enjoyed many great activities as we began to get to know one another.  On the first day I read the class the book First Day Jitters.  Then we made our own little mobile with one thing that made us happy and one that made us nervous.  We, of course, enjoyed some "Jitter Juice" while we worked on our project.  Here are a few photos I snapped during the activity.

Teacher Appreciation Week

I feel so LOVED!  I was given so many teacher appreciation gifts this week.  You guys are the best!

On Monday I was showered with the cutest homemade cards.  They were so adorable.  Ella even brought in a holder for all the cards!

On Tuesday I was showered with flowers.  My desk was full of them.  They were all so beautiful.

On Wednesday I was showered with fruit.  The students brought in all types of fruit!  YUMMY!

On Thursday I was showered with CHOCOLATE!

Thank you for all the sweet gifts.  I am so lucky to have these kids everyday in my class!
